An evening in Flagstaff
2/4/01
Echo and I then headed west on Interstate 40 for Flagstaff, Arizona, the largest, city on the Colorado Plateau.  With an elevation of over 2,200 meters (7,100 feet), Flagstaff is also one of the highest cities on the Colorado Plateau.

Flagstaff is also home to my aunt Marcia, cousin Elena, and Uncle Ray, who were so good as to have us over for dinner that evening.  Ray publishes hiking and bicycling guides under the pen name "Cosmic Ray" which have become popular in the Flagstaff area.  He and Marcia also have extensive knowledge of our next destination, The Grand Canyon, and we took this opportunity to consult with them on the most ambitious hike of our trip...
